Infant Massage:
Learn how to confidently give your baby a relaxing massage
Infant massage is a beautiful way for parents and loved ones to connect with their baby through gentle, nurturing and responsive touch.
Our infant massage program is designed to give you the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to safely massage your own baby at home. You will learn how to recognize your baby's cues, understand when they are receptive to touch and adapt massage time to suit your baby's individual needs.
You don't need to wait until your baby arrives to begin learning. Classes are suitable for expectant parents during pregnancy, new parents, partners, grandparents and other loved ones or caregivers who would like to learn how to provide infant massage.

Infant massage involves using gentle, intentional touch and massage techniques to support connection and relaxation between a baby and their parent or caregiver.
These classes are designed to teach parents and caregivers how to massage their own baby. The instructor demonstrates, guides and supports you, but does not massage your baby during the class.
An important part of infant massage is learning to follow your baby's lead. Babies communicate through their body language, movements, facial expressions and sounds. Throughout the course, you will learn how to recognise these cues and understand when your baby may be ready for massage, when they may need a break and when massage is best left for another time.
Massage doesn't need to be a long or perfectly completed routine. Some babies may enjoy an entire massage while others may prefer only a few minutes or a massage of their feet or legs. The aim is to create a positive, responsive experience for both you and your baby.
-
Our infant massage classes are designed for:
Expectant parents who would like to learn before their baby arrives
New mothers and fathers
Partners
Grandparents
Other loved ones and caregivers who will regularly care for the baby
You are welcome to complete the program during pregnancy or after your baby has arrived. If your baby hasn't been born yet, or your baby is asleep, feeding, unsettled or simply not interested in massage during a session, that's completely okay.
We have infant demonstration dolls available in face-to-face classes, allowing you to learn and practise the techniques without needing your baby to participate. There is never an expectation that a baby needs to be massaged simply because they are attending a class.
Learn Together
You are welcome to bring someone with you to complete the course.
Learning together can be especially helpful when attending with a baby. Babies may need to feed, be changed, settled, cuddled or taken for a short break during class. Having another familiar adult with you means one person can tend to the baby while the other continues watching the demonstration, and you can then swap over as needed.
It also means that two people in your baby's support network learn the same techniques, safety principles and cues, making it easier to continue massage confidently at home.
You might choose to attend with:
Your partner or co-parent
A grandparent
A close family member
Another caregiver
A friend who is expecting, has a baby or just would love to learn baby massage
If your baby needs your attention during the class, there is no pressure to keep practising. You can pause, tend to your baby and continue learning by watching the demonstration or using one of our infant demonstration dolls.
The aim is to make the experience flexible, relaxed and practical for real family life.
-
Throughout the program, we gradually build your knowledge and practical skills so that infant massage feels comfortable and achievable at home.
Topics included over the 4 sessions:
The foundations and principles of infant massage
Creating a calm and comfortable environment
When to massage your baby — and when not to
Understanding your baby's behavioural and body-language cues
Asking permission and introducing massage respectfully
Recognising signs that your baby is enjoying massage or has had enough
Safe positioning for you and your baby
Gentle massage techniques for different areas of the body
Developing a simple full-body massage routine
Adapting massage as your baby grows
Choosing appropriate massage oils and products
Basic skin-sensitivity and patch-testing considerations
Using massage as part of your family's connection and settling routine
What to do if your baby cries, feeds, sleeps or needs a break during massage
Most importantly, you will learn to respond to the baby in front of you rather than feeling that you need to complete a particular routine.
-
The program consists of three practical and theory classes (1 hour each) and a final practical workshop delivered face to face or live online (1 hour).
You will receive access to online educational material to complete. This allows you to learn some of the important theory and practice some techniques in your own time
The final live workshop brings it all together so will be guided on a full infant massage sequence. This will also be an opportunity to ask and questions and master these techniques.
-
Each class builds on the previous one.
We will demonstrate the massage techniques using our infant demonstration dolls, and you can practice with your own baby, a teddy or a baby doll.
Online
Learn from the comfort of your own home through online instruction and demonstrations. Both options follow the same core program and are designed to help you feel confident continuing infant massage independently at home.
-
That's completely normal — babies don't work to schedules.
Your baby may need to feed halfway through a class. They may fall asleep. They may be unsettled. They may decide after two minutes that they have had enough.
You will always be encouraged to respond to your baby's needs first.
You can continue learning by watching the demonstration or practising on one of our infant massage dolls, then try the techniques with your baby later when they are relaxed and receptive.
Infant massage should never be something that is forced or rushed.
-
If you’re bringing your baby, please bring anything you would normally need to keep them comfortable during the session, such as:
Feeding supplies
Nappies and changing essentials
A blanket or wrap
A change of clothes
Any comfort items your baby usually uses
For yourself, simply bring a notepad and pen if you’d like to take notes.
You’re also welcome to bring a light snack. Tea and coffee will be provided during face-to-face classes.
There is no pressure if your baby needs to feed, be changed, cuddled or take a break during the class — the sessions are designed to be flexible around your baby’s needs.
-
Joining Online?
If you’re attending online with your baby, have their usual feeding, changing and comfort essentials nearby so you can easily tend to them throughout the class.
For practice, we also recommend having a baby doll or medium-to-large teddy bear available. This will give you a more realistic shape and size to practise positioning, hand placement and massage techniques while following the demonstrations. A pen and notepad to use for notetaking if needed.
If your baby needs feeding, changing, settling or a break at any time, simply pause and tend to them first.
-
Once you have completed all online theory components and all four practical classes, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
This recognises the time you have taken to build the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to safely and lovingly incorporate infant massage into your time with your baby.
You’ll leave the course with techniques you can continue using at home as your confidence grows and your baby develops.
